Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has been admitted to the hospital after a fall, the Supreme Court's Office of Public Information said Thursday.
Ginsburg fell in her office Wednesday evening and went to the George Washington University Hospital on Thursday morning, BuzzFeed News' Chris Geidner reports. She had initially gone home after the fall but experienced discomfort overnight. Hospital tests Thursday subsequently showed that Justice Ginsburg fractured three ribs, and she has now been admitted for observation and treatment.
Ginsberg, who is 85 years old, has served on the Supreme Court since she was appointed by Bill Clinton in 1993. The oldest member of the court, Ginsberg has said she would like to stay on at least for another five years, until she turns 90. She has survived cancer twice and in 2012 broke two ribs in a fall but went right back to work the next day, reports Reuters. Brendan Morrow
