Death toll in El Paso and Dayton mass shootings rises to 30

The death toll in Saturday's mass shooting in El Paso, Texas has just risen by one, bringing the total number of people killed in the weekend's two mass shootings to at least 30.

Police said on Monday that one of the victims of the shooting that took place at a Walmart in El Paso has died at the hospital, meaning the death toll of the tragedy has risen from 20 to 21.

Between the two shootings that occurred over a period of 24 hours, then, at least 30 people have died, and more than 50 have been injured, NBC News reports. Police have detained the 21-year-old suspect of the El Paso shooting, Patrick Crusius, who reportedly authored a racist manifesto ranting against "race mixing," CNN reports.

In a speech from the White House on Monday, President Trump said that the El Paso shooter was "consumed by racist hate" and that "in one voice, our nation must condemn racism, bigotry, and white supremacy. These sinister ideologies must be defeated."
