Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez jubilantly trumpets Amazon's cancelled HQ2 plans

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is positively gleeful over Amazon's announcement that it will no longer build a campus in New York City.

The company had said that it dropped its plans because "a number of state and local politicians have made it clear that they oppose our presence and will not work with us to build the type of relationships that are required to go forward with the project."

Ocasio-Cortez, who represents part of Queens, where the planned headquarters would have been built, had not been shy about opposing the deal. Last week, she celebrated a report that suggested Amazon may be reconsidering its plans, calling it a "creeping overreach" of a major corporation.

On Thursday, she triumphantly tweeted about the cancellation, and applauded the politicians and organizers who "defeated Amazon's corporate greed." Her tweet struck a slightly different tone than New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, who scolded Amazon for "throwing away" the opportunity. Summer Meza
