The new preliminary deal to prevent another government shutdown is earning a thumbs down from President Trump.

"I can't say I'm happy," Trump said on Tuesday of the new agreement, per The Washington Post's Josh Dawsey. "I can't say I'm thrilled." Trump didn't say whether he'd sign the bill, but said that he's "adding things to it" and that he's "thrilled" by "where we're going." Trump also said that "I don't think you're going to see another shutdown" but claimed it would be Democrats' fault if one happened.

Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) had said Monday that Republicans and Democrats in Congress "reached an agreement in principle" to avert another shutdown, Politico reports. This would reportedly include $1.3 billion for physical barriers along the southern border, but not the $5.7 billion Trump has been demanding for a wall.

Should a new budget not be signed into law by Friday, the government will shut down again.
